Job Summary

The University of Greifswald is seeking a part-time (50%) Research Associate to join the Experimental Plant Ecology working group. This role is crucial for the 'MACROBIO' research project, which focuses on establishing sustainable cultivation of native macroalgae (seaweed) in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and developing new, eco-friendly biomaterials. Day-to-day tasks involve developing cultivation systems for specific macroalgae species (Fucus vesiculosus and Furcellaria lumbricalis), optimizing reproduction and seeding methods in climate chambers, conducting field data collection and analysis, and maintaining research stations. The position is suitable for candidates pursuing a PhD. Ideal candidates must hold a Master's degree in Biology or a related field, possess a solid knowledge base in plant ecology, especially Southern Baltic Sea macroalgae, and have experience with statistical data analysis, preferably using R. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to applied foundation research in ecological restoration and sustainable land use within an interdisciplinary and international setting.
