Job Summary

This critical role involves leading a six-person team responsible for the operation of two on-premises data centers at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), a facility operating one of Europe's most advanced clinical IT environments. The Data Center Team Lead ensures the continuous availability of essential data and functions crucial for secure patient care and compliance with stringent KRITIS/BSI requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include the technical and disciplinary leadership of the team, coordinating tasks, managing equipment lifecycles, and preparing the annual budget. Strategically, the lead plans and conceptualizes complex data center technologies, manages tenders, and drives the transition toward a service- and product-oriented working model, including the orchestration of external cloud resources, focusing initially on Microsoft Azure. Candidates must possess a scientific university degree in IT or equivalent experience, multi-year experience in a large IT organization, and deep expertise in data center infrastructure, virtualization (VMware), and compliance standards, coupled with proven leadership abilities.
