Job Summary

This role seeks a dedicated Technical Assistant specializing in Cytogenetics to join the Institute for Human Genetics at the University Hospital Freiburg, a leading German center for genomics. The core function involves the independent execution of complex cytogenetic examinations, including the cultivation and processing of lymphocyte and tissue cultures, chromosome preparation, and Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH). Day-to-day tasks also include microscopy, computer-aided analysis of chromosomal preparations, maintaining laboratory organization, and contributing to quality assurance and method development. The ideal candidate must hold a relevant technical qualification (MTA, BTA, BioTA) or a Bachelor's degree in Biosciences/Biotechnology. Fluency in written and spoken German is mandatory, as all laboratory instructions and documentation are conducted in German.
