Job Summary

This is a high-impact leadership role as Commercial Director, overseeing the entire administrative and commercial operations of the prestigious Fraunhofer IZM research institute in Berlin. The successful candidate will strategically manage and modernize all administrative departments, including procurement, accounting, HR, IT, legal, contract management, controlling, and facility management. Responsibilities involve leading administrative executives, providing strategic economic advice to the Institute Management, actively shaping personnel policy, and representing the institute externally in administrative matters. The role requires a strong background in business administration or law, extensive leadership experience in a commercial capacity, and the ability to drive effective processes, from investment planning and controlling to reporting and strategic recommendation development, ensuring the institute's continued development in alignment with its research goals.

Required Skills

Education

University degree, preferably in Law, Economics, or Business Administration (BWL)

Experience

  • Several years of leadership experience in a commercial position with personnel responsibility
  • Comprehensive professional experience in business administration (accounting, controlling, risk management, HR processes)
  • Experience in developing and modernizing administrative departments
  • Experience working with central organizational units (e.g., Fraunhofer Headquarters and Works Council)
