Job Summary
As a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Network Optimization, you will be instrumental in transforming Zalando's supply chain to enhance customer experience and address complex logistical challenges. Your daily responsibilities will involve developing financially viable self-serve products using optimization and simulation techniques, collaborating closely with Applied Scientists and Operations Research scientists to implement and maintain mathematical models in a production environment. You will work with stakeholders to understand fulfillment goals and utilize a cloud-based tech stack including AWS, Kubernetes, Databricks, Airflow, and Python. This role offers the opportunity to drive innovation and resilience within a high-volume e-commerce fulfillment operation, contributing to a vibrant engineering community in Berlin.

- Extensive industry experience designing, developing, monitoring, and operating data-intensive production systems
- Professional experience with Python & SQL working with cloud services (e.g., S3, SageMaker)
- Professional experience with microservice architecture, REST services, event-based systems, and API design
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools, container/orchestration tools such as AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and other data processing and analysis tools like SageMaker, Databricks, and Airflow
- Eagerness to collaborate with Operations Research or Applied Scientists to test and productionize mathematical models
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage projects with many dependencies
