Job Summary

This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing the Department of Youth, School, and Sport for the city of Langenfeld (approx. 60,000 residents). The Head of Department will oversee all aspects of youth welfare, school development, and sports promotion, including acting as the Director of the Youth Welfare Office (Jugendamt). Daily tasks involve providing overall management and strategic direction for the department, representing the city externally in these fields, and ensuring the continuous development and financial steering of services. A critical component is collaborating closely with political committees, independent youth welfare providers, educational institutions, parents, and volunteers. Candidates must possess a scientific university degree (Master's level) in a relevant field (Pedagogy, Psychology, or Social/Educational Sciences) combined with substantial administrative and leadership experience, specifically within the complex field of child and youth welfare. This demanding role requires high commitment, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to drive digital transformation processes.
