Job Summary

This pivotal role seeks a seasoned Cybersecurity Architect to define and strengthen the organization's security posture by translating high-level governance into actionable, technically feasible security designs. The architect acts as the technical backbone for Foundational Technologies (FT), driving the adoption of NIST CSF v2.0 and defining consistent security baselines across cloud (AWS, Azure), on-premise, and research environments. You will serve as the content authority for cybersecurity, collaborating closely with the Chief Cybersecurity Officer on strategy and guiding technical project managers on implementation. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining the FT cybersecurity baseline, managing the technical security backlog, and acting as the technical liaison to Corporate Cybersecurity architects. This position requires long-term experience in cybersecurity architecture and strategy, ensuring alignment and continuous improvement of the security posture through rigorous technical control implementation and roadmap development. The role offers flexible mobile working (2-3 days per week) and continuous development opportunities.

Required Skills

Education

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, GDSA, or SABSA SCP are a plus.

Experience

  • Proven long term experience in cybersecurity architecture and strategy
  • Proven hands-on implementation experience with cybersecurity controls across the technology stack, including on-premise, edge, and cloud (AWS and Azure)
  • Professional experience in information security with sound knowledge in risk, vulnerability, and incident management and reporting
  • Previous experience supporting as technical lead Vulnerability Management programs
  • Ideally, experience in engineering, R&D, or administration/operation of IT/OT
