Job Summary
This position offers a unique opportunity for a Doctoral Researcher to join the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin-Adlershof, focusing on experimental and data-driven research within the DFG-funded CALISO-ML project. The successful candidate will develop and validate methods for isotope-sensitive molecular spectroscopy of Calcium, collaborating closely with the Humboldt University of Berlin and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Day-to-day work involves sophisticated experimental lab work, instrumental analytics, and complex computer-aided data evaluation using tools like Python, R, or MATLAB, culminating in a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Humboldt University. This role is highly attractive due to the fully funded, minimum three-month research stay at Caltech, access to state-of-the-art laboratories, excellent publication prospects in high-ranking journals, and participation in international conferences, all within a supportive, interdisciplinary, and flexible work environment.
Required Skills
Education
Completed scientific university degree (Diploma/Master) in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or comparable field; Fulfillment of admission requirements for a Ph.D. in Chemistry at Humboldt University of Berlin
Experience
- Initial relevant experience in experimental laboratory work and instrumental analytics
- Experience in computer-aided evaluation of complex measurement data
