This position offers a unique opportunity to join the 'Sustainable Metallurgy' working group at Saarland University, focusing on the critical CircularSaar project which supports regional industries in transitioning to a sustainable circular economy. The Research Associate will conduct systematic investigations into the influence of trace elements that accumulate during the recycling of steel scrap, analyzing their impact on the manufacturing process and final product properties. Key responsibilities include microstructural and mechanical characterization, operating specialized furnace setups, and close cooperation with major industrial partners like Dillinger Hütte and Saarstahl. The role requires a strong background in Materials Science or Engineering, experience with advanced characterization tools (e.g., REM, STEM), and excellent communication skills for scientific publication and industrial collaboration.
