Job Summary

This role involves joining the State Office for Environment, Nature Conservation and Geology (LUNG M-V), a key scientific-technical environmental authority in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. The specialist will be crucial in ensuring the continuous operation and security of the LUNG's IT infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include the planning, management, analysis, and development of IT operations, focusing heavily on data and IT security implementation, reporting, and compliance. A core part of the job involves the administration of server systems, managing a virtual server farm using VMWare, and handling hardware/software procurement for central components like servers, storage, and network systems. The ideal candidate must possess a degree in IT or a related field and have at least three years of proven, extensive experience in secure server administration, coupled with C1 level German proficiency.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geoinformatics, or a comparable field, or equivalent skills and experience acquired through prior employment.

Experience

  • Professional experience in information technology or related field
  • Minimum three years of documented practical and/or professional experience in secure server administration, acquired in multiple positions (public or private sector)
