Job Summary

This is a part-time (50%), fixed-term, 3-year position starting April 2026 at the University Hospital Freiburg, supporting a DFG-funded research project in Oral Microbiology. The assistant will be crucial in the intensive cultivation and characterization of oral bacteria, including S2-level organisms and yeasts. Day-to-day tasks involve core microbiological work, such as using various culture methods, managing bacterial isolates, performing antibiotic resistance testing, and applying molecular biology techniques like PCR and Real-time PCR. The research focuses on oral biofilm formation, microorganism interaction with biomaterials, and genetic typing of isolates. Candidates must possess a completed MTA or BTA qualification, several years of professional experience, and ideally, knowledge of S2 bacterial culture techniques.
