Job Summary

This role involves providing specialized technical support for municipal energy and water supply projects, as well as general civil and structural engineering initiatives in N'Djamena. The consultant will be responsible for reviewing planning documents, tender specifications, and cost estimates, while also assisting local and central contract departments in commissioning national and international experts and construction companies. A key function is advising on the conceptualization, implementation, and commissioning of infrastructure measures for efficient and environmentally sound power and water supply, working closely with regulatory bodies and municipal authorities. Furthermore, the consultant will provide capacity development to technical staff and facility operators regarding systemic operational management of energy and water supply systems. This position is attractive due to its focus on sustainable development in a complex international context, requiring strong engineering expertise and diplomatic skills to navigate fragile environments.

Required Skills

Education

University degree, preferably in Engineering (Energy, Water, Civil/Structural Engineering) or a comparable qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., alternative energy, water supply, environmental management)

Experience

  • Professional experience in developing and implementing energy efficiency projects for power/water supply in municipal environments
  • International or development cooperation experience is ideal
  • Multi-year professional and international work experience
  • Experience with EU funding mechanisms (Desirable)
  • Work experience in fragile contexts (Desirable)
