Job Summary

This role involves working as a Research Associate within the 'Wildlife Biology and Wildlife Management' staff unit, focusing specifically on a project addressing new challenges in wild boar management across Bavaria. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and participating in the capture and tagging of wild boars, including managing trapping facilities. Day-to-day tasks include extensive fieldwork, such as telemetry monitoring of tagged animals, camera trap monitoring, and vegetation mapping. A core component of the job is the digital processing and management of collected data (GPS, activity, camera trap) using GIS and databases. The position requires strong biological expertise, practical hunting experience (hunting license required), and excellent technical skills for field operations and data handling. The associate will also engage in public relations, training events, and collaboration with various stakeholders, requiring strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Required Skills

Education

Completed Bachelor's degree (B. Sc.) in Biology, Wildlife Management, Forestry, or comparable qualifications; Hunting license required; Certificate of expertise for the immobilization of wild and captive animals (advantageous)

Experience

  • Above-average practical experience in hunting and openness to new hunting methods
  • Professional experience in wild animal management and monitoring methods (advantageous)
