This role involves working as a Research Associate within the Wildlife Biology and Wildlife Management staff unit, specifically focusing on a project addressing new challenges in wild boar management in Bavaria. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and participating in field work, including capturing and tagging wild boars, monitoring tagged animals using telemetry, and conducting vegetation mapping and camera trap monitoring. A significant portion of the job involves digital data management, including processing GPS and activity data in GIS and databases, as well as archiving biological samples. The position also requires strong communication skills for public relations, delivering presentations, and collaborating effectively with various stakeholders, scientific institutions, and interest groups. This is a crucial role for generating scientifically sound foundations for wildlife management practices, requiring physical resilience and extensive field work readiness.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) in Biology, Wildlife Management, Forestry, or comparable qualifications; Hunting License required; Proof of expertise for the immobilization of wild and captive animals (advantageous)

Experience

  • Professional experience in wildlife management and wildlife monitoring (advantageous if no specific degree is held)
  • Above-average practical experience in hunting and openness to new hunting methods
  • Practical experience in field recording methods (advantageous)
  • Experience in handling common GIS software (desirable)
