Job Summary
This is a key leadership role managing and developing the newly formed IT Department for the Südliche Weinstraße District Administration. The Head of IT will be responsible for leading a team of six, ensuring the operational readiness and security of the entire IT infrastructure and system architecture, and driving the digital transformation agenda across the administration. Key responsibilities include strategic planning for IT operations, network technology, and security structures, analyzing new technologies, and managing relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Candidates must possess a strong background in IT or business administration with an IT focus, strategic understanding, and preferably, leadership experience, coupled with high resilience and organizational skills to manage complex public sector IT environments.
Required Skills
Education
Required: Successfully completed university degree in Information Technology (e.g., Business Informatics, Computer Science, Digital Administration, E-Government, Business Administration with IT focus, or Industrial Engineering with IT focus), OR successfully completed degree in Business Administration (preferably with IT focus), OR Certified IT Specialist (IHK), OR Certified Business Informatics Specialist (IHK), OR Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or Public Management, OR completed career examination for the third entry-level of Administration and Finance, OR completed training as Administrative Specialist (Verwaltungsfachwirt), OR completed training as Administrative Assistant (Verwaltungsfachangestellter) plus further training as Administrative IT Specialist (Verwaltungsinformatiker).

Additional
- Full-time, permanent position. Eligibility for payment according to salary group A 12 LBesG or pay grade 12 TVöD. Open to lateral entrants (Quereinsteiger).
