Job Summary

This role involves ensuring the digital future capability of the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) as a Senior Expert in GeoInformation Systems (GIS). You will be part of a new Engineer Team responsible for the operation, development, and migration of extensive GeoInformation Systems (based on ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise) and Meteorological/Oceanographic (METOC) data processing systems, specifically supporting the GeoInformation Service of the Bundeswehr (GeoInfoDBw). Day-to-day tasks include planning, building, operating, and monitoring complex GIS/METOC systems, ensuring service development based on rapidly changing requirements, and implementing security, data protection, and operational standards. The ideal candidate has a relevant university degree or IT vocational training combined with at least five years of experience operating large-scale IT systems, expertise in automation, and practical experience with large system landscapes (Kubernetes, Linux, Windows). Fluency in German and very good English skills are required, along with a willingness to travel nationally and internationally, contributing directly to Germany's security.
