Job Summary

This role involves supporting and developing the cleanroom facilities at the Center for Hybrid Nanostructures (CHyN) for the Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter (MPSD), collaborating closely with the University of Hamburg and DESY. The specialist will be crucial in establishing, maintaining, and documenting nanofabrication processes, including the calibration and operation of shared cleanroom tools. Day-to-day tasks include performing and optimizing fabrication processes such as electron-beam lithography, thin-film deposition, and dry/wet etching, and supporting scientists in designing and characterizing micro- and nanostructures for quantum materials research. Candidates must have a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field and proven hands-on experience (minimum 2 years) in micro- and nanofabrication techniques. Fluency in both English and German is required, alongside a strong technical understanding and motivation to thrive in an interdisciplinary, international research environment.
