Job Summary

This role seeks a highly motivated Clean Room Engineer to support and coordinate micro- and nano-fabrication activities for the new "Microstructured Quantum Matter" department at the Max Planck Institute. The core responsibilities involve process development, machine maintenance, user training, and coordination between research partners. Day-to-day tasks include the operation and rigorous maintenance of major equipment, specifically a high-precision UV laser writer and a multi-source Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) system. You will ensure these systems operate at their feasibility limits, achieving high reproducibility in tasks like writing 300nm features and producing homogeneous thin films. The position requires a Master’s degree in Nanotechnology or a related technical science, coupled with over two years of professional clean room experience. Fluency in both English and German is necessary. This is a stimulating R&D environment, offering the chance to interact with a broad, international team of scientists across physics, chemistry, and biology, translating complex research questions into real microstructures in the nanoworld.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Nanotechnology or a technical science connected to microfabrication aspects; PhD in a related subject is welcome.

Experience

  • Professional experience with lithography
