Job Summary

This position is a four-year, fixed-term PhD opportunity within the DFG-funded Clinical Research Unit CATCH-ALL at the University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein. The successful candidate will join an international, multidisciplinary team focusing on advanced hematological diagnostics and research, specifically investigating leukemia-specific and immunological mechanisms of Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) persistence. Day-to-day responsibilities involve performing cutting-edge genomic and epigenetic analyses, including single-cell sequencing, sorting, quantitative molecular assays, and methylation profiling. A key focus is conducting T-cell functional assays and correlating these functional readouts with complex clinical data, often embedded within a national multicenter ALL treatment study. Applicants must hold a completed Master’s or Diploma degree in a natural science subject (Biology, Medical Life Science, or Computational Biology). While a high level of commitment and teamwork is mandatory, previous experience in multicolor flow cytometry, high-throughput sequencing data analysis, and the field of hematology is highly advantageous. Fluent English and basic German skills are required for effective collaboration.
