Job Summary

This role is centered on the strategic steering and optimization of the Virtual Power Plant portfolio for Stadtwerke Lübeck Energie GmbH. The Portfolio Manager is responsible for developing and executing sophisticated hedging strategies for electricity, gas, certificates, and guarantees of origin, while proactively managing associated volume and price risks. Key day-to-day duties include continuous market observation, creating complex models for risk and pricing analyses, refining sales forecasts, and maintaining accurate load and price projections. The position requires a high degree of regulatory compliance, managing reporting, KPI tracking, and ensuring accurate contribution margin calculations. Candidates must possess a technical-economic background, proven professional experience in the energy sector—ideally with Virtual Power Plants—and expertise in specific energy data management systems like robotron*esales or SOPTIM PMS. This opportunity offers a stable, system-relevant role in the energy transformation sector, contributing critical expertise to future heat supply projects.

Required Skills

Education

Completed technical-economic degree (e.g., Industrial Engineering) or equivalent knowledge and skills. Additional qualification as a certified Energy Portfolio Manager or Stock Market Trader (Spot or Futures Market) is a plus.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the energy industry, ideally in Virtual Power Plants and/or short-term portfolio optimization
  • Project management practice
  • Sound knowledge of procurement markets, risk management, and market analysis
  • Good understanding of relevant energy industry regulations (EnWG, EEG, or KWK)
