Job Summary

As an Immission Control Officer, you will play a pivotal role in establishing a modern, digitized environmental authority in Hanau, Germany. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve drafting expert reports for immission control and waste management procedures, assessing expert opinions, and ensuring compliance with the Federal Immission Control Act. You will oversee immission-controlled facilities, conduct noise measurements, and supervise district chimney sweeps. A key aspect of the role is advising citizens and city departments on immission control matters and contributing to the development of an information system using ArcGIS and ProUmwelt. This position offers a unique chance to shape future-proof processes within a new department, working in a motivated, interdisciplinary team with modern facilities and flexible working arrangements.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Protection, Environmental Technology/Environmental Protection, Process Engineering, Chemistry, or a comparable degree with a focus on Immission Control or Technical Environmental Protection.

Experience

  • Professional experience, ideally in public administration
  • Very good knowledge of Immission Control Law (BImSchG and related regulations, TA Lärm, TA Luft)
  • Knowledge of administrative and regulatory law, especially SchfHwG (Chimney Sweeping Act) is desirable

German (Fluent)

  • Possession of a Class B driving license and willingness to use a private car for business purposes against reimbursement if needed.
