Job Summary

The Federal Environment Agency (UBA), one of Europe's largest environmental authorities, is seeking an IT Specialist to manage and coordinate the interface between the central UBA network and the specialized Measurement, Laboratory, and Science Networks in Dessau-Roßlau. This role involves the full lifecycle management—from conception and planning to secure operation—of network transitions and the UBA's organization-wide WLAN infrastructure across all sites. Key responsibilities include monitoring network availability and security compliance, acting as the main point of contact for specialized departments regarding network issues, and coordinating external service providers. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Computer Science or a related field, or relevant professional IT certification with experience, and possesses strong skills in administering firewalls, routers, and switches, coupled with excellent analytical and planning capabilities. The position offers the stability of public service and flexible working models, including mobile work options.

Required Skills

Education

University degree (Bachelor, Diploma [FH]) in Computer Science or a comparable IT-related field, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Telecommunications; alternatively, completed vocational training as an IT Specialist (Fachinformatiker)

Experience

  • Professional experience in network administration (preferred, if professional training is the basis for application)
  • Experience in coordinating and controlling external service providers
  • Experience in monitoring network security and compliance
