Job Summary

This role seeks a dynamic and innovative young scientist, preferably a Post-Doc or someone nearing the completion of their doctorate, to lead a research group focused on the interaction of building materials with the environment and human health. The successful candidate will be responsible for acquiring research and development funding, leading and mentoring scientific staff, and publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals. Key areas of focus include the long-term behavior of recycled building materials, the impact of building materials on indoor and outdoor environments, and the development of methods for eliminating air pollutants using microorganisms on material surfaces. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive researcher to shape a key strategic area within a leading materials research institution, leveraging excellent experimental facilities and collaborating with interdisciplinary partners.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Master or equivalent) and completed (or nearing completion) dissertation in a natural or engineering science field.

Experience

  • Post-doctoral experience or in the final phase of doctoral studies
  • Experience in acquiring research project funding
  • Experience in leading research teams
  • Experience in preparing technical reports and scientific publications

Additional

  • Must provide a concept paper (max. three pages) outlining the potential thematic direction of the research group, including ideas, goals, content, potential connections to MFPA's work areas, possible team composition, necessary equipment, and initial ideas for implementing topics in research proposals and projects. Must provide a list of own publications and copies of the three best journal publications. Must provide a list of self-initiated and/or led R&D projects and information on existing experience in applying for research projects and leading research teams. The position is initially for three years, with a possibility of extension for another three years after an interim evaluation.
