Job Summary
This System Administrator role, based at the University of Potsdam across the Law and Economics/Social Sciences Faculties, offers a permanent position coordinating and managing critical IT infrastructure. The core responsibilities include migrating, operating, and further developing faculty IT services onto the central university infrastructure (ZIM). Day-to-day tasks involve managing virtual servers running Linux and Windows, configuring web applications like TYPO3, handling hardware procurement, and providing essential First and Second-Level IT support to faculty staff and students. A key focus is ensuring compliance with IT security standards (DSGVO) and contributing to the strategic development of advanced services, including VM hosting and potential AI solutions. Candidates must possess a degree in Informatics or related field, or equivalent vocational training and experience, coupled with profound knowledge of server operating systems and software (Apache, Tomcat). Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (FH/University) in Informatics, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or comparable; alternatively, completed vocational training as an IT Specialist for System Integration or comparable qualification.
Experience
- Several years of professional experience (as alternative to degree)
- Profound knowledge in the operation and further development of server operating systems (Linux/Windows)
- In-depth knowledge of server software (Apache Web-Server, Tomcat Application-Server)
- Experience in programming with Python, PHP, and Java
