Job Summary

The GESIS – Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral or Senior Researcher to join the Computational Social Science (CSS) department in Cologne. This role focuses on advancing research in digital behavioral data and Computational Social Science, particularly within the Digital Society Observatory team, which monitors society using data collected from online platforms. Day-to-day tasks include conducting research, managing and developing service tasks like data collection from online platforms, evaluating the quality of digital behavioral data, and advising on its use. The successful candidate will also be responsible for presenting research findings and drafting third-party funding proposals. Key qualifications include an above-average doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Political Science), strong publication record in CSS, and expertise in R and/or Python. This position offers an international, interdisciplinary environment with access to unique datasets and potential for tenure after the initial four-year contract.
