Job Summary

This role involves driving small molecule drug discovery within early pharmaceutical research for a leading global corporation. The Medicinal Chemist will be responsible for developing, planning, and implementing compound design strategies, focusing on optimizing lead structures using SAR/SPR data, ADMET properties, and target selectivity. Key daily tasks include close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams (Biology, Pharmacology, DMPK, Patent Law), applying computer-aided design methods to accelerate molecule development, and interpreting biological test results. The role also requires managing external partners (CROs) in international projects and contributing to scientific documentation and patent applications. Candidates must possess a university degree followed by five years of specialized training as a Clinical/Medicinal Chemist or equivalent experience, profound knowledge of SAR/SPR strategies, and expertise in therapeutic areas like cardiovascular diseases, oncology, and immunology. Excellent English skills and project management abilities are mandatory, with the flexibility to work remotely across Europe or the USA.

Education

University degree followed by five years of specialized training as a Clinical/Medicinal Chemist or similar qualification

Experience

  • 5 years of post-graduate specialized training as a Clinical/Medicinal Chemist or equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience in drug research within cardiovascular diseases, oncology, and immunology indication fields
  • Experience in managing and coordinating external partners (CROs) in international projects
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of SAR/SPR strategies and drug design
  • Experience with Schrödinger Live Design is advantageous
