Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity to join the globally connected Institute of Experimental Medicine (IEM) at UKSH, focusing on cutting-edge host-microbiome research, including the Global Microbiome Conservancy (GMbC). As a Medical/Biological Laboratory Technician, you will be crucial in supporting the experimental services platform. Your daily responsibilities include running assays in continuous flow bioreactors, managing the culturing, isolation, characterization, and biobanking of microbes. You will also play a mentorship role, supporting and training students in the technical preparation and implementation of various microbiology, molecular biology, and genetics research projects. Success in this position requires completed training as a technical assistant (medical or biological) coupled with professional experience in molecular biology, genetics, or microbiology, particularly anaerobic/aerobic culturing and DNA isolation techniques. This is a full-time, fixed-term position starting January 2026, offering a stimulating international environment and the chance to contribute to vital research.
