Job Summary

This fixed-term, part-time PhD Researcher position (75% workload), starting in March 2026 at Ruhr University Bochum, focuses on cutting-edge research in plasma physics and chemistry using advanced laser-based diagnostics. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and applying state-of-the-art techniques, including infrared frequency comb spectroscopy and THz spectroscopy, to analyze atomic and molecular species within low-pressure plasmas relevant to industrial processes. Key tasks involve conducting detailed studies to elucidate plasma-chemical processes, determining spectroscopic parameters, and supporting associated plasma modeling efforts. The role requires meticulous documentation, preparation of publications, and presentation of results at international conferences. This is an excellent opportunity for highly motivated individuals with a background in physics or chemistry to contribute to innovative basic and applied research, collaborate internationally with industry and academic partners, and gain mentoring experience with BSc. and MSc. students.

Master of Science (MSc) degree in physics, chemistry or related field

  • Professional experience in scientific research (PhD level)
