Job Summary

This critical role involves managing the full lifecycle of research data for the Childhood Obesity and Metabolic Research group at HI-MAG, Helmholtz Munich, located in Leipzig. The Research Data Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing robust data management plans, ensuring strict adherence to current regulations, best practices, and the FAIR data principles. Key daily tasks include the conceptualization, management, and maintenance of databases for ongoing clinical studies, specifically utilizing REDcap. The manager oversees data collection, validation, curation, anonymization, storage, and controlled access for large, complex cohorts, including omics data. Candidates must possess a university degree in life sciences, data science, health informatics, or a related field, coupled with proven experience in managing clinical or epidemiological study data. A strong understanding of clinical research regulations, including GDPR and Good Clinical Practice, is essential for success in this stimulating international research environment.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in life sciences, data science, health informatics, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field. Advanced degrees (e.g., MSc + MPH or PhD) are desirable.

Experience

  • Proven experience in managing clinical or epidemiological study data
  • Experience preferably including large cohort studies with omics data
  • Familiarity with electronic data capture systems such as REDcap
