Job Summary

This role places the scientist within the NCE Analytical Development (NCED) Capability Pool at Bayer, focusing on providing specialized expertise in chromatographic separation techniques for active ingredient development projects, including emerging modalities like targeted radiopharmaceuticals. Day-to-day responsibilities involve independently managing complex analytical challenges using both established methods (e.g., (U)HPLC, GC) and newer chromatographic techniques (e.g., SFC) paired with various detection systems (MS, UV, CAD). The successful candidate will lead sub-projects and interdisciplinary analytical teams, acting as the Scientific Expert for Chromatography in project teams. Key qualifications include a degree in Chemistry (preferably PhD) and strong scientific expertise in instrumental analytics, particularly UHPLC and SFC. This position offers the unique opportunity to drive innovation, contribute ideas for digitalization and AI application in the lab, and foster knowledge exchange through collaboration with academic institutions, mentoring PostDocs and students.

Degree in Chemistry or a related field (PhD preferred)

Experience

  • Scientific expertise in instrumental analytics, particularly UHPLC with various detectors (MS, UV, CAD)
  • Knowledge or professional experience in SFC with various detectors (MS, UV)
  • Experience in leading (sub-)projects and interdisciplinary analytical teams focused on chromatography and detection techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and independently grasp complex analytical methods and issues
  • Professional experience with LIMS systems
