Job Summary
This role is for an Automation Project Engineer responsible for the full lifecycle of machine control systems, focusing on software modification, design, and implementation for complex machinery. Day-to-day tasks involve the project planning and creation of machine control software, primarily utilizing SIMATIC TIA Portal and Step 7 Classic, alongside configuring Siemens S120 drive technology and various HMI/SCADA systems (WinCC V7/V8, WinCC-Unified, WinCC flexible). A core responsibility is troubleshooting operational machine faults and developing robust solution concepts. Candidates must possess a degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable qualification, complemented by deep knowledge of industrial bus systems (Profinet, Profibus, IO-Link) and safety functionality programming. The position requires strong conceptual thinking, reliability, and the ability to work collaboratively across technical disciplines, making it ideal for experienced automation specialists seeking challenging project work.
Required Skills
Education
Completed degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable qualification, ideally supplemented by a completed apprenticeship in an electrotechnical profession.
Experience
- Several years of professional experience in an electrotechnical profession (if vocational training is combined with a comparable qualification)
- Professional experience in programming complex machine controls
- Experience in developing solution concepts
