Job Summary
This opportunity is for two highly motivated PhD Candidates to join the Environmental Biotechnology Group at the University of Tübingen, contributing to the international GAIA-PRO project. The core mission involves pioneering sustainable, climate-positive biotechnological platforms that convert gases like hydrogen and biogas into valuable single-cell proteins, advancing the circular bioeconomy. Day-to-day responsibilities will involve intensive experimental and conceptual work, utilizing modern bioreactor technology, microbial ecology, and sustainable process design. One role focuses on engineering oxygen-sensitive microbes and designing adaptive bioreactors, while the second concentrates on developing stable, high-productivity gas-fermenting granular communities. Successful candidates must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Biotechnology or Biochemical Engineering, possess strong teamwork skills, and be fluent in English.
