Job Summary
This role seeks an ambitious PhD candidate to join the Environmental Biotechnology research group at the University of Tübingen. The focus is on investigating open, mixed, and pure microbial cultures within engineered systems, pioneering sustainable biotechnological production platforms, and studying renewable electric power storage using biological power-to-X technology. Day-to-day activities involve applying methods such as bioreactor design and operation (lab- and pilot-scale), genetic engineering, electrochemistry, and systems biology, including next-generation sequencing and proteomics. The ideal candidate must possess a strong background in bioreactor operation, excellent management and communication skills, and high motivation. This position offers the unique opportunity to work in an international, interdisciplinary team and present research results at international journals and conferences, contributing significantly to future industrial adoption of sustainable biotechnologies.

Master's degree in Biology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field (required for PhD candidacy)
Experience
