Job Summary

Join the Chip Analysis Group within the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND) in the Cologne/Bonn area as a Technical Cryptanalysis Specialist. This role involves conducting in-depth hardware and chip analysis, focusing on highly integrated components. You will be responsible for the technical analysis of communication and cryptographic systems, including integrated circuits, and reconstructing netlists to create simulations. A key part of the role is translating analysis results into reports and developing hardware/software prototypes. You'll also perform technical vulnerability analysis, develop and deploy acquisition systems, and support the entire reverse engineering process. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to national security by providing critical intelligence to the German government.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or equivalent (Diplom univ.) in Computer Science, Electrical and Information Engineering, Industrial Engineering (with an engineering focus in the aforementioned areas), Mathematics, or Physics.

Experience

  • Professional experience in hardware and chip analysis
  • Professional experience in technical analysis of communication and cryptographic systems
  • Professional experience in integrated circuit analysis and netlist reconstruction
  • Professional experience in technical vulnerability analysis
  • Professional experience in reverse engineering processes
  • Professional experience with assembler and machine code analysis
  • Professional experience with higher-level programming languages (e.g., C, C++) and scripting languages (e.g., Python)
  • Professional experience with hardware description languages
