Job Summary

This role involves the setup, operation, and continuous development of IT systems, primarily focusing on Linux-based environments such as application and database servers. The administrator will be responsible for creating concepts, transitioning them into operational use, and managing project implementation. Key day-to-day activities include installing, configuring, monitoring, patching, and backing up applications and services, alongside conducting training sessions. The position requires a strong background in Linux server administration and familiarity with web/application servers (Apache/Nginx, Tomcat/WildFly) and various database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MS-SQL). Successful candidates must possess excellent German and good English language skills, a service-oriented mindset, and a commitment to teamwork, contributing to the IT services department at the South Westphalia University of Applied Sciences.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or FH Diploma in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Electrical/Information Technology, or equivalent; alternatively, relevant vocational training with proof of several years of professional experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in IT application and system administration (required if educational background is vocational)
  • Experience in building, operating, and developing Linux-based systems
  • Experience in application and service operation and support
