Job Summary
This role is for a dedicated Technical Assistant to join a team focused on the ecology of aquatic communities and ecosystems, particularly their response to global change. The successful candidate will be responsible for the taxonomic analysis and biomass determination of phytoplankton using microscopy, a key aspect of the institute's long-term programs and research projects. Daily tasks include measuring photosynthetic activity, isolating and maintaining laboratory cultures, and conducting lab-based experiments, with occasional fieldwork. The position also involves critical laboratory management, including coordinating with external service providers, maintaining equipment, and supporting researchers and students. Strong organizational skills are essential for managing research data and integrating it into internal databases. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in biological, chemical, or medical technical assistance, possessing a deep understanding of phytoplankton taxonomy, to contribute to vital research on freshwater ecosystems in a dynamic, international environment.

Completed training as a Biological, Chemical, or Medical Technical Assistant (BTA/CTA/MTA) or comparable qualification
Experience
- Professional experience with phytoplankton taxonomy
- Experience with modern microbiology and plant physiology methods (desirable)
- Experience in a scientific or academic environment (advantageous)
