Job Summary
The Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) is seeking a Fish and Fisheries Scientist to join their Fish Biology, Fisheries, and Aquaculture department in Berlin. This role is part of an international, interdisciplinary project focused on cross-border management of water, water quality, fish biodiversity, and ecosystem services within the Oder/Odra river system, in collaboration with partners in Brandenburg and Poland. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and compiling a joint fish database, analyzing data, modeling habitats, and visualizing fish habitats for public outreach. This position offers a dynamic international work environment, flexible working hours, and the opportunity to contribute to significant cross-border environmental research.
Required Skills
Education
Master of Science (M.Sc.) or equivalent in Biology, Ecology, or a related field
Experience
- Professional experience in data research and compilation for databases
- Professional experience in data analysis and habitat modeling
- Professional experience in organizing workshops
Languages
Additional
- This position is project-based and limited to three years, with potential for extension. Knowledge of the Polish language is an advantage. The role is suitable for part-time work, and applications from job-tandems are welcome. The position is subject to final funding approval.
