Job Summary

The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate for a full-time, three-year fixed-term position with the option for extension, within the Medical Physics group at the Institute of Physics. This role focuses on advanced research and development of methods and technologies for biomedical photoacoustic imaging and sensing, spanning from fundamental research to in vivo applications. Key responsibilities include publishing scientific results, securing third-party funding (e.g., ERC Starting Grant), and teaching Medical Physics (4 hours per week). The position is designed to facilitate a habilitation or equivalent academic achievements through independent research and funding acquisition. Ideal candidates possess a PhD in Physics or a related engineering discipline, strong programming skills (Python, Matlab, LabView), and demonstrable research experience in experimental physics, particularly in areas relevant to photoacoustic imaging, optics, or signal processing. Excellent German and English proficiency is required.
