Job Summary

This PhD candidate position at Hannover Medical School focuses on translational research concerning Hepatitis D Virus (HDV) immunology, a severe form of viral hepatitis. The successful candidate will work within a leading interdisciplinary environment, integrating immunology, virology, and bioinformatics to understand host-pathogen interactions and mechanisms of disease chronicity. Daily tasks involve applying advanced methodologies such as long-read sequencing, in vitro infection models, multicolor spectral flow cytometry, and single-cell RNA sequencing. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a Master’s degree in life sciences and strong hands-on experience in molecular biology and virology, who is prepared to conduct independent, goal-oriented research within international consortia like the German Center for Infection Research and the EU-funded D-SOLVE Consortium. The position offers extensive networking and professional development opportunities through the Cluster of Excellence RESIST.
