Job Summary

This PhD position at Heidelberg University's Centre for Molecular Biology (ZMBH), under Prof. Elmar Schiebel, offers a unique opportunity to investigate the molecular mechanisms of centriole biogenesis. The successful candidate will join a renowned research group focusing on gamma-tubulin complexes and centrosome function. Day-to-day activities will involve rigorous research combining advanced microscopy techniques, biochemistry, and genetic tools to unravel the complexities of centriole assembly, specifically focusing on how centrioles duplicate and assemble microtubules during formation, and how these processes relate to disease. The role requires a candidate with a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant life science field, coupled with a strong passion for scientific inquiry. This is a 60% fixed-term position, initially funded for three years, providing the researcher access to the highly regarded Heidelberg Biosciences International Graduate School (HBIGS).
