Job Summary

This role seeks an Administrator to manage and evolve the central telecommunication systems and applications for Heidelberg University, Germany's oldest university. The successful candidate will be responsible for the continuous administration, monitoring, and maintenance of a large-scale hybrid telecommunication network (VoIP and TDM) supporting approximately 8,000 connections, along with integrated applications like Unified Communication and Call-Center solutions installed on virtual servers. Key tasks include coordinating external firms, supporting planning for infrastructural changes, and providing user training and support. Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications Informatics or equivalent professional experience, coupled with strong technical knowledge in server infrastructure (Windows Server, Linux) and IP networking. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential, alongside very good German (C1) and good English proficiency, to ensure effective collaboration within the URZ team and with external partners.

Experience

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications Informatics or equivalent professional experience
  • Professional experience in telecommunication systems administration (if relying on vocational training pathway)
  • Knowledge in the administration of MiTel/Unify telecommunication systems (preferred)
