Job Summary

This Postdoctoral position involves joining the DFG-funded Emmy-Noether research group (Fenech Lab) at the University Hospital of Cologne, focusing on understanding the molecular mechanisms defining specificity within the eukaryotic secretory pathway. The successful candidate will independently design, perform, and analyze complex proteomics and biochemical experiments, utilizing state-of-the-art facilities and working primarily with baker's yeast and mammalian cells. Day-to-day tasks include manipulating yeast whole-genome collections, building and testing hypothesis-based theories using various cell biology techniques, and preparing high-quality data for manuscripts, reports, and international conferences. Key requirements include a PhD in Cell/Molecular Biology or Biochemistry, advanced experience in protein biochemical techniques (e.g., Western blotting, mass spectrometry sample preparation), and a strong background in cell- and organelle-based experimentation. This role offers an excellent international research environment, strong mentorship, and the opportunity to develop scientific independence.
