Job Summary

This critical role involves ensuring and controlling the energy supply for railway operations, covering overhead lines, signal boxes, and stations, thereby guaranteeing safe and smooth train movements. The Master Craftsman/Technician is responsible for maintaining the availability of all 50Hz and 16.7Hz railway power supply systems, actively managing fault resolution, and ensuring rapid restoration of service during outages. Day-to-day tasks include reliable, economical, and customer-oriented operational management of the railway energy supply, as well as independently executing switching operations (commissioning, monitoring, and logging). Ideal candidates possess a degree as an IHK Master Craftsman or Technician in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent electrical qualification with multi-year professional experience and a willingness to obtain the Master Craftsman qualification. This position requires readiness to work in a 3-shift system, including weekends and holidays, following internal qualification.

Required Skills

Education

IHK Master Craftsman (Meister) or Technician (Techniker) in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent electrical technical qualification.

Experience

  • Multi-year professional experience in the electrical engineering sector (alternative to Master Craftsman/Technician qualification)
  • Experience in railway energy supply (advantageous, but not mandatory)
  • Readiness to acquire further qualifications, such as switching authorization
