Job Summary

This role involves specialized planning and execution of complex railway infrastructure projects focusing on Control and Safety Technology (CST/LST). The Planning Engineer will be responsible for creating detailed planning documents, specifications, tender documents, and supporting procurement for new constructions or modifications of CST systems. Day-to-day tasks include independently managing highly complex railway projects from initial concept through handover, specifically involving signal box systems (ESTW, DSTW), train protection systems (ETCS, PZB, ZBS), and level crossing safety systems. The specialist will lead the technical coordination with all involved trades, potentially manage project teams to ensure adherence to cost, schedule, and quality, and contribute to planning service calculations and bid preparation. A key responsibility is internal quality assurance of planning documents and mentoring junior engineers, making this a critical role in shaping Germany's future railway infrastructure.

Required Skills

Education

University or technical college degree in Control and Safety Technology, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a comparable field

Experience

  • Professional experience in planning within the context of Control and Safety Technology (CST/LST)
  • Long-term professional experience ensuring confident and proficient planning activities
  • Experience contributing expertise from complex projects
  • Experience with concepts such as ESTW, ETCS, or PT1
