Job Summary
This doctoral candidate position, based in Essen, focuses on advancing the stability of electrical power distribution grids, crucial for the ongoing energy transition. The role involves conducting dynamic simulations and detailed analyses of real network situations to evaluate grid stability, particularly concerning high penetration scenarios involving grid-forming inverters. Key responsibilities include developing systemic grid connection tests, refining methods for network planning and calculation, and advising on the evolution of network operator processes. The successful candidate will integrate their findings into professional bodies like the VDE/FNN and contribute to research and teaching at the University of Duisburg-Essen. This role is ideal for a highly motivated electrical engineering graduate who excels in structured, scientific work and wants to actively shape the future energy system.
Required Skills
Education
Very good university degree (Master's level or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field that fulfills the prerequisites for a doctorate (PhD)
Experience
- Professional experience in (dynamic) network calculation and simulation (RMS and EMT)
- Experience working with relevant network calculation tools is desirable
