Job Summary

This Research Associate position, based within the Institute for Lung Research at Philipps University Marburg, focuses on molecular and genetic analysis related to inflammatory lung diseases, specifically Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The role involves active participation in the multidisciplinary research network "PerMed-COPD," focusing on cohort analysis for diagnosis, classification, and treatment of COPD. Day-to-day tasks include performing molecular analysis of extracellular vesicles, genetic analysis of the sputum microbiome, and evaluating large molecular datasets. The successful candidate will also be responsible for independently planning, executing, and evaluating experiments, developing projects, and preparing scientific publications, grant proposals, and presentations. Furthermore, the role includes providing scientific services in teaching for Human Medicine and Human Biology programs. This is a vital role for an experienced scientist contributing to cutting-edge lung research using state-of-the-art core facilities.

Required Skills

Education

Completed scientific university degree (Diploma, Master, or comparable) in a life science subject, and a Doctorate (PhD) in Molecular and Cell Biology, specifically specializing in Lung research.
