Job Summary
This critical role requires a highly engaged Operations Manager to lead the hazardous waste disposal plant in Marl, Germany, focusing on maximizing effective waste throughput and ensuring cost-efficient operations. The manager will oversee the existing incineration plant, a recently constructed tank farm, and a new incineration facility currently undergoing commissioning. A primary responsibility is guaranteeing full compliance with stringent internal and statutory Safety, Health, and Environmental (HSEQ) standards. The position involves leading a diverse team, including masters, foremen, plant operators, and logistics staff, while driving continuous improvement processes based on key performance indicators (KPIs) in coordination with maintenance, sales, and laboratory teams. Candidates must possess an advanced academic degree (Master/Diploma or PhD) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering and at least five years of leadership experience within the continuous process industry. Required Skills
Education
Academic degree (Master / Diploma) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering, or a Doctorate (PhD) in Chemical Engineering or a relevant technical field
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in the continuous process industry (e.g., metallurgy, waste-to-energy, thermal power plants, (petro-)chemical industry, or cement industry)
- Professional experience ensuring effective waste throughput and cost-efficient operations
- Experience managing complex facilities including incineration plants and tank farms
- Experience interacting with supervisory authorities (Verantwortliche Person EfB) and internal HSEQ departments
