Job Summary

This role involves developing and implementing water quality models for the Oder River system as part of the international Interreg project "Oder Zusammen." The successful candidate will work within the Microbial Ecology division of the Federal Institute of Hydrology (BfG) in Koblenz, focusing on simulating water quality and assessing the risk of mass algal blooms, specifically caused by *P. parvum*. Daily tasks include developing the modeling concept, acquiring and processing measurement data in coordination with Polish partners, building, calibrating, and validating the QSim water quality model, and performing scenario analyses. The position requires a Master's degree in a relevant field such as Hydrology, Geoecology, or Environmental Engineering, coupled with strong knowledge of stream ecology, biogeochemical modeling, and scripting languages (R, Python, or MATLAB).
