Job Summary

This role offers a unique opportunity for a PhD candidate to conduct research in Membrane Chromatography within the Material Sciences field, specifically focusing on developing membrane-based Cation Exchange Chromatography media for preparative bioprocess chromatography. The focus is on polysaccharide-based materials. Day-to-day tasks involve leading innovative material and process development projects, collaborating closely with internal and external partners (customers, suppliers, institutes), and supervising Bachelor and Master theses. The successful candidate will also be responsible for monitoring the patent landscape and presenting scientific results at conferences and through publications. This position requires a Master's degree in a relevant scientific field, strong knowledge of liquid chromatography for preparative applications, and enthusiasm for experimental laboratory work at the intersection of polymer, physical, and protein chemistry. The role is part-time, limited to three years, and based in Göttingen with some remote flexibility.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a comparable natural or engineering science degree

Experience

  • Scientific know-how and understanding of Liquid Chromatography, especially for preparative applications
  • Interest in application-oriented development work at the interface between Polymer and Physical Chemistry, Resin and Membrane Technology, and Protein Chemistry
  • Experience in planning and distributing tasks and supervising Bachelor and Master theses
