Job Summary

The Hochschule Wismar is seeking a dedicated Technical Staff member for Materialography and Materials Testing. In this full-time, permanent role, you will be instrumental in preparing and analyzing material samples using advanced microscopic techniques, including light and electron microscopy. Your day-to-day will involve precise sample preparation, chemical and electrochemical etching, and quantitative analysis using digital image processing. You'll also conduct standardized hardness tests and static/cyclic mechanical tests, meticulously documenting all results. Beyond laboratory work, you will support teaching activities in materials science, plastics technology, surface technology, and thin-film technology, independently leading lab practicals and assisting students with their research. This position requires a meticulous approach, strong organizational skills, and a proactive attitude, contributing to both research and educational excellence within a vibrant academic environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant with a focus on Metallography/Materials Science, or as a Materials Tester with a focus on Metal Technology, or equivalent qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in metallography, materials science, or materials testing
  • Initial experience in non-destructive materials testing (e.g., 2D/3D radiography, acoustic emission analysis, micromagnetic property analysis) is beneficial
  • Initial experience in spark emission spectroscopy is beneficial
